Laptops break differently to desktops. The screen goes, the hinge cracks, the battery stops holding charge, or a key stops working — and because everything is packed into one case, most repair shops would rather sell you a new one.
We repair them. Bring it to the workshop in Swansea and we'll tell you what's wrong and what it'll cost before anything is ordered.
What it costs
$180 plus parts, whatever the repair turns out to be. If we can't fix it, there's a $50 inspection fee and nothing further to pay.
Screens, batteries and keyboards are the parts that vary most in price between brands and models, so we'll quote the part specifically once we know what's in yours.
All repairs carry a 12-month warranty covering both parts and labour.
What we repair
Screens — Cracked, flickering, black, or lines through the display. LCD, LED and touch screens, on every brand we've listed below.
Batteries — Not holding charge, dying at fifty per cent, or swelling. A swollen battery is worth bringing in sooner rather than later.
Keyboards and trackpads — Individual keys, whole keyboards, and trackpads that have stopped registering.
Hinges and cases — The failure that turns into a cracked screen if it's left. Worth fixing early.
Charging and power — Ports that only work at an angle, chargers that don't, and laptops that won't power on at all.
Slow laptops — An SSD and extra memory is the single best money you can spend on a laptop more than a few years old. It's the difference between replacing it and keeping it another three years.
Software and viruses — Malware removal, Windows reinstalls, and machines that have simply accumulated too much over the years.
Liquid damage — Bring it in switched off and don't charge it. Outcomes vary enormously, so this one gets assessed before we quote.
Brands we repair
HP, Dell, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, MSI, Razer, Microsoft Surface and Toshiba — and most things not on that list.
We don't repair Apple Mac hardware. MacBook screens, batteries, keyboards and logic boards need specific parts and tooling we're not set up for, so you'll get a better outcome taking those to someone who is.
Same-day where we can
Most laptop repairs are done same day or next day. The variable is almost always the part — common screens and batteries we can often source immediately, less common models take a day or two. We'll tell you which one you're looking at when you bring it in.
